Taking a little time for self-care can go a long way in general, but even more so when it comes to your feet since they are connected to all the other areas in your body.

So read on for some of our top care tips.

1) Have a soak

A DIY foot soak is one of the easiest things to whip up for soothing relief. Don’t forget that your feet carry you around all day! Give them the care they deserve. Start by filling a tub with warm water. Turn on some relaxing music. Then choose soothing ingredients to add to your soak. Some of our faves are Epsom salts, vinegar (also great for foot odor), peppermint, lemon. You can also add in some aromatherapy oils such as lavender or vanilla.

2) Dry your feet well

Feet can often be overlooked when drying after a shower. They’ll dry themselves, won’t they? Not necessarily! At least not in between the toes, which is where fungal infections develop. And guess what? Fungal infections thrive in warm, moist environments. It’s worth spending the extra few minutes.

3) Exfoliate

Straight after a foot soak is actually a great time to gently exfoliate off dead skin. You can use a pumice stone or foot brush for this purpose. Gently exfoliating corns and calluses is also recommended. Have you heard of exfoliating peels? We are fans of Baby Foot and think they work miracles. Our customers agree! Ask us for yours on your next visit.

4) Moisturize

Your soles can get hard, dry or even cracked if not looked after properly, especially if you are often on your feet. Make sure you moisturize regularly using a thick cream or scrub that’s suited to your specific skin concern. We have a wide range available at the clinic and can make the best recommendation for you.

5) Cut your toenails

But not too short! You don’t want any ingrown toenails. Cut them before showering, so the nail is nice and hard, and cut across in a straight line then file the edges to create a curve. Cutting them every 6 to 8 weeks should suffice.

Now go show off those feet in your sandals, while the sun’s still out!
